Each year all of us have at least one new years resolution that we are set on acting upon, but sadly none of us are able to stay firm on it.  We all want to be the better versions of ourselves. Here are the resolutions we all make but only to break!

1. Stay fit

Most of us are set to shed some pounds and get in shape by the end of the year, size 6,8, 10 or even zero? We plan to head to gym, cut sugar and carbs and make sure our jeans that are a tad bit tight would be easy to slip in.

2. Quit Smoking

All the chain smokers want to get rid of the horrible habit of blowing up like a choo choo train, it’s time you actually make an effort and look for various ways to put the habit at bay – such as, chewing a gum when craving a smoke.

3. Spend More Time With Family 

Plenty of us are usually so absorbed with work and errands that are endless – we began to neglect family. Let’s change that?

4. Travel

Prague, Switzerland, Ireland, Italy and what not! We chalk down all the places that give us an itchy feet – so this year make sure you save up and head out for a trip with your loved ones. Work hard and party harder!

5. Achieve More

We all want to strive to achieve our goals and reach to the point where we probably wouldn’t be a needing to look at a price tag while shopping for something.  Let’s try and make your name a brand this year.

6. Read More

Books are truly your best friends, so squeeze them in your hectic routine.

7. Fall In Love 

Finding your one true love and then marrying them is no less than a Disney fairy tale, you grow old and witness all the highs and lows together. It’s the best feeling!

8.Learn Something New

Making a career choice or changing it, learning how to play the violin, learning how to dance, or a learning a new language. You should get out of the box and explore new things.

Winter weather is not fun for skin. Cold weather and low humidity levels result in dry air, which then steals moisture away from the skin every second of every day. Without immediate care, dry skin can lead to cracking and bleeding, and harsh winter wind makes the problem worse. Indoor heat further robs the air of moisture, as do hot showers or baths and harsh cleansers.

Additional moisture helps, but you need to do more to actually counteract these effects and keep skin looking youthful and smooth. To reduce chapping, redness, itching, and keep skin more healthy and comfortable this season, try these tips.

1.Ban Hot Showers: 

Winters already cause your skin to strip all the moisture, so a long hot shower is just a cherry on top in making it worse. Opt for luke warm water and make it short. No doubt that all of us love long hot baths, but they can cause major damage to the skin so skip it!

2.Moisturize: 

I personally prefer using Vaseline or a baby oil in winters to keep my skin deeply moisturized, don’t forget to apply them all over the body immediately after shower. This will lock the moisture in your skin making it smooth. Be generous with applying them after every wash. Leave your moisturizers overnight for better results.

3. Load Up On H2O:  

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin from dehydrating, reduce your intake of caffeine as that will hinder you from gaining that flawless skin!

4. Hair: 

When comes to pampering yourself, make sure you go big or go home. Apply olive oil mixed with egg oil at least thrice a week, spend on some good quality hair masks and you’ll be good to go. Above all that lay off the hair dryers and iron, these will only drain the Keratin from your hair, leaving your strands prone to breakage.

5. Eat Right:

As the old saying goes, “You are what you eat.” Foods with essential fatty acids like avocado and antioxidant-rich foods like pomegranate and pumpkin give your skin increased protection, immunity and resistance to the elements. A nutritious diet = healthier skin.

6. Sleep: 

It’s like a nightmare leave your cozy bed in this chilly weather, and drag yourselves to work but it’s essential to actually have your beauty sleep.A good eight hour sleep will be the source of your well rested and more beautiful skin.

7. Exfoliate: 

We often forget to help the skin slough off dead cells in the winter, particularly on our hands. Yet moisture can’t get in if the dead cells are too plentiful. Find an exfoliating mask and use it on your face and your hands, as well as gently on your lips, then follow immediately with moisture to truly see a smoother difference. Exfoliating body washes are also helpful in the winter months.

8: Chapped Lips: 

Keep a lip balm with you at all times. Seriously, it mustn’t be ignored. Dry lips call for a mobile lip moisturizer! There is never enough moisture for your delicate lips in winters.

9: DIY Scrub: 

Scrubbing your knees, elbows and knuckles is to be taken serious, a blend of honey and sugar in equal parts will give you a thick paste that can be used as an excellent scrub. Use this twice a week, this may work well for your dried lips if scrubbed with a toothbrush gently.

10: Protect Your Skin: 

Always protect skin with a safe sunscreen like one that contains zinc oxide, and wear protective hats and clothing. Remember, your skin needs extra care in winters where it’s prone to crack and strip all the moisturizer.

It’s heartbreaking how transgenders in our society are considered secondary citizens, they are discriminated and looked down upon. Unlike the western world where the third gender is considered equal and given the same rights, our society is so caught up with mistreating and abusing them. It’s shameful.

Hamza Ali Abbasi’s recent initiative where he joined hands with Alamgir in the #Fixit campaign was about actually doing something for your own country and ‘fixing it,’ the actor/news anchor painted the walls of Karachi with his team on New Year’s eve. After the recent act of kindness, Abbasi recorded a clip that spreads the message about how every transgender must be given equality in our society. He stated that they are an unrecognized community and really needs to be considered important. Abbasi is on the roll and no doubt the actor goes an extra mile when comes to being a good Pakistani citizen.

The drama serial Khuda Mera Bhi Hai is about how a girl named Mahi (Ayesha Khan) sets out on a difficult journey against her husband and society only to give her own child the same rights as others. Is being the third gender an option? Didn’t Allah create us all? If He doesn’t judge them on being a transgender, then who are we to decide that they don’t belong? Are they meant to come flaunt their ‘dancing skills’ on weddings and birth of a baby? I think unlike and raise the question of why aren’t they given the same integrity as you and I.

We need to have education systems for the children who are neither male or female, and permit them to have white collar jobs. People like Hamza Ali Abbasi prove that a transgender belongs to the same society as any average man or a woman. They are out on streets being sexually abused or are forced to beg and plead for money so they don’t starve to death.

Opt for neutral shades like black, navy blue or a gray and stick to fewer details – remember less is more. Flats, pumps, sneakers, loafers or high heels – paired up with correct attire, your shoes stand you out. Several colors and designs are available to pick from. If you decide to keep it casual, slip into flat pumps and if your hunt is for that formal mehendi look, then put on some high heels. A top notch quality shoe will assist you in flaunting that ‘style chameleon’ look.

Handbags:

Buy bags with neutral colors like cream, black, blue and white and use them with EVERYTHING, spend on some very good brands that will last long. I mean if you buy a good Charles and Keith bag, it might last longer than a regular non branded one.

Veteran actor Om Puri is no more. The super icon had a massive heart attack this morning and passed away at the age of 66. Ashoke Pandit, the filmmaker, who happens to be a close friend of Om Puri  confirmed this news on Twitter this morning. Om Puri returned home after a shoot last evening and seemed healthy.

His door bell went unanswered in the morning, after which the driver broke the news to everyone. Born on October 18th, 1950, hailing from Ambala in Haryana, Om Puri began his career in 1976 with the Marathi film Ghashiram Kotwal.

The death of the fallen legend left the masses in a major heartbreak, the fact that it was sudden demise, it struck the majority of us with a shock. There’s no doubt that he’ll be terribly missed.

If you’ve watched the Ainak Vala Jin back in 90’s, then you must’ve had an awesome childhood. Growing up watching that show was like a treat for the young generation, characters like Charlie Mamu, Zakoota and the wise old Nastur Jinn, provided the ideal respite from the pressures of school and homework.

Amongst all the popular actor Bil Batori was admired the most, her witty dialogues and humorous performance would put us in a torrent of emotions. Sadly the popular actress is now striving to make ends meet. Nusrat Ara who’s now 65 is struggling, life took a turn for the worse once Ainak Wala Jinn ended, forcing her into unemployment and poverty.

It’s heartbreaking that once the Bil Batori who was the cause of countless laughter’s is now shedding tears. Ara stated, “Is it not cruel that after four decades of serving the Pakistani entertainment industry, I don’t have a roof over my head and the government is not even bothered about that?”

Recently Vasay Chaudhry, famous Pakistani producer, director and screenwriter posted a thought provoking status when the news of Nusrat Ara coming to the streets for begging began trending on social media.

Chaudhry believes that the actors need a union, a union that would provide them  a financial security. Example of Ara has provoked many to take a stand and be a support to her.  Everyone deserves to be given a protection that will be the cause of a secured future, we really hope Vasay’s voice is heard and implemented upon.

The trend of Red lipsticks is timeless, from Aishwarya Rai to Kajol, Blake Lively to Rachel Mc Adams or Mawra Hocane to Mahira Khan, flaunting a Red lipstick is pretty much fashion symbol. However, the latest fashion of Black lipsticks is taking over the social media by storm. Various make up artists and MUA have began to use Black lipsticks while they upload videos and tutorials. Black lipsticks are not too ‘alien’ in Hollywood but they’re still new to us desi’s.

We decided to experiment on our local actresses and see how would they look in a Black lipstick, would they be able to pull it off or would it just be a big No No! Have a look:

1.Mawra Hocane: 

Though this starlet looks super pretty in a red or any shade of lipstick, we believe she certainly looks bold and beautiful in a black one too. A shade for the next award ceremony?

2.Mehwish Hayat: 

The woman who has given many a dil ki lagi will look like that junglee billi we need to see! A black lipstick will add that oomph to her entire outlook. A little bit of experimenting never hurts anyone, right?

3.Mahira Khan: 

So the zaalima who is on the roll because of her upcoming Bollywood debut opposite king khan has stolen the limelight countless times, Mahira has that girl next door look and we believe that she should stick to that and skip black lipstick for now. But that’s just our perception.

4.Mehreen Raheel: 

As pretty as she is, shades like red, nude and pink will suit her best! The leading model of Pakistan – Mehreen has an eye for fashion and a black lipstick doesn’t seem like her thing, unless the actress wants to play with upcoming trends then she should give it a shot!

5.Hareem Farooq: 

This actress will give you fits-piration (fitness inspiration) after the pounds she shed – Hareem gives us all curvy women major goals. To be honest she looks downright stunning in a black lipstick. No joke.

6.Ayeza Khan: 

The very attractive Ayeza has left no stones unturned when it’s about flaunting some quality acting skills. The shade black doesn’t seem to be in her favor. What do you think?

7.Imaan Ali: 

Is there anything that doesn’t suit this pretty face? Not just clothes but make up too, Imaan is an epitome of style and hands down she looks no less than a queen in a black lipstick.

8.Sohai Ali Abro: 

The Fair and Lovely charmer knows more than a thing or two about style that you can take notes of, but the shade black won’t be a sight we’d like to see Sohai in.

9.Saba Qamar: 

Though flashing a black lipstick won’t be as bad for Saba, but we’re not a big fan of it. The leading lady of Pakistani cinema looks so much better in standard lipstick shades.

10. Sanam Saeed: 

YES! Can someone please tell this diva to try a black shade soon? No doubt this will lit up her entire look.

Most of us here are complete make up addicts who opt for the PERFECT look when heading out, ever heard the phrase ‘wake up and make up?’ Well, keeping our love for the cosmetics aside – none of us can deny how most women struggle with having equal eye liners and contour.

RFAK won the Filmfare award in 2011 for his track ‘Dil Toh Bacha Hai from Ishqiya. His other nominations were for ‘Teri Meri,’ Bodyguard in 2012, ‘Sajdaa,’ My Name Is Khan in 2011 and ‘Aaj Din Chadheya,’ Love Aaj Kal in 2010. The singer is competing against Atif Aslam. This will be certainly be a tough competition.
