“Main Pakistan Ka sheri, main Pakistan ka Maalik.”

Ashir Azeem has been labeled as the patriotic entertainer after the huge success of his renowned drama serial, ‘Dhuwan’. ‘Maalik’ is his directorial debut and comeback film; it managed to get immense pre-release hype and attention in Pakistani cinema due to the popularity of his previous drama.

Written and directed by Ashir Azeem, it is a Pakistani political-thriller with the right amount of emotions and drama infused! The film showcases a cast comprising of some of the most prominent and celebrated faces in the industry such as Asher Azeem himself, Sajid Hassan, Farhan Ally Agha, Hassan Niazi, Rashid Farooqi, Adnan Shah, Tatmain ul Qulb , Ehteshamuddin, Erum Azam, Pakiza Khan, Lubna Aslam and Marium Ansari.

The music has been composed by Sahir Ali Bagga with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s phenomenal vocals adding depth to the powerful and thought provoking lyrics.

The film is about a retired SSG officer and his anti-corruption battle against those in power, it conveys a strong patriotic message. ‘Maalik’ teaches us that every single Pakistani has a responsibility , and he himself is the master of his fate!

Azeem told the media, “Our aim is to give a message to all our viewers to take ownership of their country and their loved ones and I hope that the audience will appreciate our efforts.”

The ARY Film Awards 2016 was action-packed and eventful, it has without a doubt set new standards and left a great mark in the history of entertainment. The biggest names of Pakistan’s Entertainment Industry got together to celebrate the revival of Pakistani cinema and all that they have accomplished in the year 2015!

Our celebrity stars shined their brightest as they walked the ‘Tangy Orange Carpet’ to grace the event; this star-studded night was hosted by none other than Pakistan’s favorite and most energetic TV show host, Fahad Mustafa along with Sana Bucha, Ahmad Ali Butt and a few others. The night was full of celebration: breathtaking dance performances, humor filled acts and lots and lots of wins! Fahad Mustafa not only hosted the show, but he performed as well along with the biggest names of the industry such as Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat, Sohai Ali Abro, Faysal Qureshi, Ahmad Ali butt and others setting the stage on fire!

Ahmad Ali Butt was exceptionally hilarious and entertaining; he deserved a completely special award for being the best entertainer of the night! The true ‘Angel Of Comedy’ took Taher Shah’s ‘Angel’ to a whole new level and became the highlight of the event! He claimed that he was the baby angel in Taher Shah’s music video and not Taher Shah himself. Oh and that tiara he wore was just adorable!

And this wasn’t even it! Apart from the actual awards, there were a few humorous ones given away by this angel! Ahmad awarded Hamza Ali Abbasi the ‘Qandeel Baloch Award’, declaring that he seeks attention on Social Media just like the drama queen. He awarded Urwa Hocane the ‘Wannabe Arabi Award’ owing it to her very Arabic sounding name – Urwa Tul Wusqua Hocane.  Humayun Saeed received the ‘Wifetime Achievement Award’, because apparently his wife in known for having strong control over the man! *Ahem Ahem* And the ‘Buy One get One Free Award’ was won by none other than the Jai and Veeru of Pakistan’s Entertainment Industry,   Aijaz Aslam and Faysal Qureshi!

Another major highlight of the night was the presence of Pakistani and now also Bollywood heartthrob, Fawad Khan. The start power was such that as soon as the man arrived he stole all the attention there was to steal!  Fawad also bagged the ‘International Film Icon Award’ for making Pakistan proud on an International front! The humble Khan thanked Pakistan for giving him the initial platform and break to actually break through. When being compared to the biggest Khans of Bollywood by the host Fahad Mustafa, he said that he’s just started his career and there’s still a long long way to go.

How can one mention Fawad and not his ‘Humsafar’ costar, Mahira Khan? She looked gorgeous all dolled up in white as she walked the stage in elegance  to receive the ‘Listener’s Choice Award’, Mahira Khan too took this opportunity to thank Pakistan’s Film Industry for providing a platform due to which she along with other local stars are able to make waves outside the  country.

The legendary actor Javed Sheikh was awarded the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by another iconic legend, Nadeem Baig. ARY Film Awards 2016 also took this platform to honor the ‘Chocolate Hero’ Waheed Murad with the ‘Special Appreciation Award’ as the Pakistani Film Industry will forever be in debt of his remarkable contribution.

Mehreen Jabbar’s latest venture ‘Dobara Phir Se’ is an ARY Film Production starring Sanam Saeed, Adeel Husain, Hareem Farooq, Ali Kazmi, Tooba Siddiqui, Atiqa Odho and Shaz Khan in major roles. The first official teaser trailer of the film is out and it suggests that the story circles around friendship, love, life, the ups and downs and second chances.

Mehreen revealed to the media that ‘Dobara Phir Se’ is the story about two soul-mates, Hareem Farooq and Adeel Hussain, who meet each other at different stages in their lives and are unable to achieve their happily ever after fairy tale due to certain complications. ‘When love gives them a second chance’, we just hope against all odds they embrace it with open arms and give the viewers a happy ending.

New York and Karachi, both locations serve as major backdrops, the characters look interesting and the soundtrack sounds flawless; all guaranteeing a great cinematic experience!

Film, Fashion and Fun …the ARY Film Awards 2016 covered it all!

On a star studded night in Dubai, when the biggest stars from the Entertainment Industry of Pakistan gathered together to celebrate and appreciate the revival of Pakistani Cinema, it led to a display like never before. Since the ARY Film Awards can be called the Oscars of the Pakistani Film Industry,everyone who showed up tried their best to nail their look and stand out in the crowd.

Will Hira be able to give her mother the justice she deserves?

Samina Pirzada has given a great performance in the show portraying as the woman who always takes a stand for her daughter, a great mother and a great wife. Suboor Ali has shown phenomenal acting and so has the rest of the cast including Sajid Hassan, Javeria Abbasi, Waseem Abbas and Aiman. Story of a mother and daughter who have had their highs and lows and walked through the rough patch of life has lead them to the scenario where they now can’t seem to find a way out.

After murdering her ex husband Samina Pirzada is forced to live the rest of her life in jail and left praying to God for mercy and happiness for her sole daughter Suboor Ali as Hira. on the other hand Javeria Abbasi is at peace that the property of her dead husband is now hers and moves further to enjoy her life until she stands in the scenario where she is left with lack of money. We also see that how Hira is trying so hard to meet her mother and pull her out of the jail but ends up around a man who has inappropriate intentions towards her.

Sadaf compromised her entire life trying to be a great wife and a great mother to both her daughters. she was the kind of woman who tolerated both of her husband’s ‘unfair’ behavior towards her, knowing she was taken for granted she never said a word.

Sadaf loved Hira too much to take a stand on the fact that she will be getting married to a man whose twice her age. she knew that would ruin her life and make it miserable, which is why she did everything to make her life better.

Its compromise that moves us along :

she was loved and cherished by her own daughter Hira as Hira saw how her mother has lived her whole life trying be a better wife to a man who did not value her. Sadaf would be there for her and wouldn’t let anyone hurt her daughter no matter what. her quiet nature and calm behavior made her husband value her eventually.

 Tolerance is never a sign of weakness but a sign of strength :

We also see that Hira has proved to be an excellent daughter even to her step father by tolerating all his injustice towards her and her mother and only to protect her mother Hira compromises her love and her life and agrees to marry a man whose the same age as her father.

Courage is taking a stand when nobody stands with you :

It’s true that Sadaf kills Shahryaar but the sole reason she does it is because he destroys her life and maybe that’s the point where Sadaf learns that ‘it’s enough’.

Bay Qasoor portrays that woman shouldn’t be considered week only if they have the tendency to stay quiet and have a tolerance. A woman is someone who will take drastic measures to make fair. killing someone isn’t the only way out but yes maybe Sadaf had enough and was willing to pay her time in jail.

In our society it’s said that if you are quiet and tolerant you’ll be a great wife and that’s what Sadaf did her whole life, she prayed to God and believed that she will find happiness which she does in the end.

Karachi: 3^rd June, 2016 : ‘Lahore Se Aagey’ is an upcoming  comedy movie which will definitely  leave its audience extremely anxious who are looking forward to it. Keep calm and wake up for Suhoor : The most significant point to keep in mind in Ramadan is to have fresh and healthy food at Sehri. If you want your ‘roza’ to go easy and smooth, you must eat energy filled diet, consisting of composite carbohydrates, and have food which have a slow digesting process. You can eat lentils, millet, oats, beans, unpolished rice, wheat and barley having composite carbohydrates. if you want to go overboard you can always have the yummy parathas and yogurt, its filling and healthy.

Stomach too tight? keep your Iftar light :The next most important tip to follow in Ramadan is to have a digestive Iftar. This is one of the common misconception is to have food in large quantity. It is a trend in Ramadan that people would end up having extremely oily and fried foods such as pakoras, french fries, rolls, and samosas, as tasty as they as are its best to avoid them and opt for healthy food,  like fruit chaat, dahi phulki, doodh soda and even sandwiches. One shouldn’t feel heavy after a long day of fasting as that might upset your stomach and cause problems to digest easily.

If you have time for Facebook, you have time to exercise :We can’t miss how exercise is the most important health tip, and not just in Ramadan but in our daily life. Science has also proved that if you exercise while fasting it will bring you well. It will build stronger digestive system and increase the rate of your metabolism. If you find exercise difficult then you can always decide on a brisk walk to burn extra stored calories from your body,  cleaning up your room or anything that would make you physically energetic. praying  five times a day helps too as it keeps you active.

When life gets too hard to stand, kneel : Being Spiritual in Ramadan is highly recommended. One should make sure to be as holy as they can, one must pray regularly five times a day, recite Quran and it will certainly make you closer to Allah. Avoid watching everything inappropriate on TV. ‘ they say the food to your soul is Namaz’. It will surely relieve you from all the stress.

Those who spend in charity will be richly awarded : Giving Zakat is the as equally important as any duty in Ramadan, we shouldn’t forget poor and keep in mind how they fast too and can’t afford to have the luxuries that we do. it will give you a feel of satisfaction that absolutely is the key to happiness. Be it clothes, money, food, do contribute as all our good deeds are being noticed up there.

Every Ramazan ARY Digital begins the holy month with their ever popular show Shan-e-Ramazan transmission, every day with a special Seher and Iftar programmes. Iftar from 2:30 pm onward and Seher from 2:00 am onward every day. Our very own Junaid Jamshed and Waseem Badami being the hosts for Shan-e- Ramazan. Recitation of the Holy Quran by Junaid Jamshed in his very moving and heart touching voice will also be taking place.

Bringing you famous religious scholars as guests who will enlighten all of us, using their insight. A segment of questions and answers will also be held where all the inquiries from the audience are going to be responded and you get an opportunity to win amazing prizes. A daily Islamic Quiz section in Iftar and Sehar will be held in which students from different universities and colleges will partake to win a grand prize.

Throughout Ramazan, Iqrar ul Hassan will reach to the deserving who are eager for help, the transmission will involve amazing segments like Roza Kushai, with a daily section in Shan-e-Iftar that will entertain the viewers through a parody on social issues by a character named Gappo by Ayaz Samoo. Junaid Jamshed will be performing  dua supplication sessions which will express gratitude towards Almighty Allah (SWT) for his generosities and prosperity of individuals around the world.

Along with the special Ramazan transmission, ARY is going to show other programs to keep their audience entertained the entire month. Begin your day this Ramazan with Good Morning Pakistan, Ramazan Special with Nida Yasir from Monday to Friday at 9:00 am. The most watched game show of Pakistan will be grand and more exciting this Ramazan daily, with Fahad Mustafa, Live at 7:30 pm.

Watch Bulbulay daily at 2:00 pm and on Sundays at 10:00 pm to keep the dose of laughter alive. Mera Yaar Mila De on Monday at 10:00 pm, Besharam on Tuesday at 10:00 pm, Anabiya on Wednesday at 10:00 pm, Aab Kar Meri Rafugari on Thursday at 10:00 pm, Tum Meri Ho on Friday at 10:00 pm, Tum Yaad Aye on Friday at 11:00 pm, Dil Lagi on Saturday at 10:00 pm, Khot on Saturday at 11:00 pm and Judai on Sunday at 10:30 pm. Whereas Moye Piya Rung Laaga will be aired from Friday to Thursday at 11:00 pm and Guriya Rani from Friday to Thursday at 11:30 pm.

Shan-e-Ramazan

For the last three years  Junaid Jamshed  has been surprising us with his beautiful naats, prayers, a very friendly smile and amazing stories on Sehri and Iftar on Shaane-e-Ramazan. People need something to get their minds off of the hectic long day at work and I think it’s a perfect getaway.

Iftar menu:

You can’t deny it, In Ramazan, we all go overboard with our munching. Unless doodh soda, dates,  Ammi’s fruit chaat, pakoray, and dahi phulki aren’t on the table, the Iftari seems incomplete.  We all know we eat enough in Iftar that the feeling of ‘explosion of tummy’ comes in but again try and stop us because we deserve it after a long no food day

Sehri menu :

Sehri is incomplete without chaai, desi ghee ke parathey and makhan, even though some of us tend to have ‘healthy’ food like porridge and milk but that’s no fun is it? the smell of a paratha is more then enough to get your tummy growling.

Night matches:

When Ramazan arrives, the night cricket fever picks up. All the boys come out at after Taraweeh and turn the streets into pitches. If you happen to live in a colony where boys do then it’s easy you’d hear them shouting all kinds of noises which kind of funny. The noises and crowd would be louder on the weekends as that’s when offices are off too. Good luck living around a boy filled colony!

Taraavi :

We can’t forget how we all, well most of us would go for taraavi every day and meet our fellow friends, cousins etc. Last year a friend of mine organized taraavi sessions at his own place, which was a lot more convenient.

While you’re celebrating, don’t forget the less privileged ones. Add charity to your routine and collect more blessings.

Ramazan Mubarak!

Ramazan this year is incredibly  hot and since it came in summer, its certain that pretty much everyone suffers from thirst if not hunger. The feeling of thirst in Ramazan turns out to be intense in summer because of the weather, not to mention that the period of fasting may extend to more than 15 hours a day. You have to go to work along with doing all the daily activities in Ramazan as any other month, and at times you cannot keep away from it and lose a lot of body fluids during the day. However, here are few simple tips to make you less thirsty

For starters you need to understand that the type of food you eat, plays a vital role in how thirsty you could get during the day. There are some types of food that you need to avoid eating and others that you need to eat at Suhoor;

• Avoid having spicy food and strong flavored ones because such type of food would make you want to drink more water and make you thirsty while Fasting.

• Try Drinking more liquids after Iftar but in tiny portions so that you would not load your stomach and end up upsetting it. drinks like lemonades, watermelon juices, coconut water and mango juice do the trick.

• Try eating plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits at night and in Suhoor, as they already contain water from within that would help your body get the liquid it needs during the day I personally love a big bowl of a fruit chaat as it refreshes and fills up my stomach.

• Try consuming food that has fiber because it would stay longer in your valve which would lead to a less feeling of hunger.

• Avoid adding a lot of salt in your food as it causes to increase the feeling of thirst.

It surprises me how some people believe  that if they drink plenty of water in Suhoor they will not get thirsty, but this concept is entirely wrong, because this water would be more than what your body needs, so your kidney will work it out a few hours after Suhoor and will not stay in your system as long as you thought it would.One should always try and keep themselves busy in Ramazan with reciting Qur’an, praying and doing everything they can to please Allah, asking for his forgiveness and thanking him for his endless blessings. Secondly if we’re busy we barely think about food and water. One should also think about the poor and how they are literally obligated to fast the entire year because they have nothing to drink or to eat, which should be another reason for you to give more and think about others needs too. ‘But compassion isn’t about solutions, its about giving all the love that you got’ Sheryl Strayed.

So this is what I learned from the video:

Our celebrities don’t hesitate to help :The video clearly gives a message on how one shouldn’t be reluctant of helping the poor and deserving. No matter  how rich or popular they are. It’s not every day we see people who would be happy in others joy. This Ramazan we should make a promise of helping each other and the poor without any hesitation.

Pakistan is beautiful :The video is shot at such beautiful places of Pakistan showcasing  how stunning our country is. The video proves of how much effort has been put in solely to get the message across the viewers, and let them know how important it is to portray the best of your country rather than the worst.

Our stars are always ready to lend a helping hand : We must pray as much as we can as this month is the holiest of all. So why should we miss a chance to make the most of it? weather in a form Zakat, sending iftars to the poor, clothes or even spending a  good quality time with the unfortunates is highly appreciated.

So lets make the most in Ramazan and don’t hesitate to help others.

This scrumptious Pizza :It’s not a usual thing to starve yourselves the entire day, you see we love pizza no matter what and I for one can have an entire box on my own with a full stomach. The tragedy is these yummy cheesy pizza’s with olives and pepperoni are a huge temptation. A tip-don’t watch all the cooking shows if you don’t want to drool.

T.V is love: For all the T.V lovers, its impossible to keep a track of all your shows while your mother keeps yelling in your ear to ‘respect the month and shut it off’, it’s hard to watch Khaleesi, or all the Hindi shows that you’d like to watch unless you want to open up your laptops and be a bit more sneaky.

Chaai and Paratha : Who doesn’t love a cup of tea and a cheese paratha with desi ghee?  it’s the perfect sehri in Ramazan and you know you love it. Oh and a side of a delicious handi qeema is a cherry on the top!

Who doesn’t love their sleep and beds? : You love your sleep People who have work and students who have universities the next day miss their beds the most. Personally every day is a struggle for me to get up in the morning and say good-bye to my cozy bed, so yeah I miss my sleep and I’m proud to say that I love it. I’m sure you all too, waking up in Suhoor and hard hours at work makes everyone drowsy and sleepy, not just that you’d nap whenever you get a chance.

Just a drag :For all those who need a smoke after food, in the morning, while driving and whatever the times they smoke. It’s tough for them, and all you smokers out there you know the pleasure of just a drag. I’ve seen  my friends, my father and my brother getting irritable on tiny things just  because there’s no smoke. Well what can you do we must respect Ramazan.

Music is love :This holy month we avoid music out of respect. But what about the people who listen to all the hip hop while driving, in shower, changing clothes or working. It’s easier said than done, holding yourself back from it, it’s too hard isn’t it? A good tip-shift to all the naats  for this month. I have. Obviously not in shower and changing, that would be highly wrong but we can listen to them while we drive and work.

We can’t deny that Pakistan is very talented when comes to making commercials and being creative. There have been some great ads every year in Ramazan that we loved, and they manage to melt our hearts very easily. Here are few of our favorite ads during Ramazan.

Pepsi managed to give a message of no matter how old you are at the end you’d want to spend you Iftar or Sehri with your loved ones. Its not always about friends you know. ‘Amm is love’.

ARY Shan-e-Ramazan’s transmissions are airing daily and we can’t deny how beautiful and enlightening they are. Along with all the quizzes, Iftaris sessions,Sehri sessions,debates, one on one conversations with the audience and  lastly, the most favorite segment which are all the beautiful Naats in soulful voices that are very moving  and provides you with a peace of mind.
